Over the course of two decades, Sorg provided numerous planning and design services for multiple properties of the US Embassy in Paris, France, including the historic Chancery, Buildings A & B, the Chief of Mission Residences (Hotel Rothschild), Hotel Talleyrand (Building E), the Marine Security Guard Quarters, as well as the Staff Diplomatic Apartments at Boulogne and Neuilly.

These efforts have included high-level strategic endeavors, such as a New Embassy Compound Alternative report, a Major Rehab Facilities plan, a Comprehensive Space Planning evaluation, and a new Marine Security Guard Quarters feasibility study, as well as the renovation of the Staff Diplomatic Apartments.

A comprehensive space utilization upgrade was proposed to right-size and reorganize tenant agencies within the chancery building. Through this exercise, functional spaces were improved, as were critical security adjacencies. As a result, the Sorg team uncovered more than 15,000 SF of recaptured space available for additional office space and other embassy functions.

The renovation and rehabilitation project incorporates plans to upgrade major building systems, including a complete replacement of all existing, mechanical, electrical and systems in Buildings A & B. Well-versed in this type of challenge, the Sorg team was able to seamlessly integrate the workings of these new systems within the existing historic building.
