The Beauregard

Washington, DC

Toggle title

Targeted to a clientele attracted to the industrial urban fabric and revitalized art and culture scene of Washington’s U-Street Corridor, the 49,000 sf Beauregard condominium consists of 49 open-plan, light-filled apartment units, all with views, and underground parking. Sorg’s playful design alludes to the thriving music scene and its variety of genres from jazz to punk. On the exterior, a syncopation of alternating black and maroon Ironspot brick contrasts the formal design elements and links to the industrial context. Projecting bays are a Cubist deconstruction of a classic Washington apartment building design component. Setbacks lessen the severity of the building’s height upon the context, while also providing outdoor spaces. Affordable interior finishes keep the units within reach of first-time home buyers.
