Los Angeles Low-Rise Housing Challenge

We were honored to participate in Los Angeles’ Low-Rise Housing Challenge to develop appealing and sustainable new models of low-rise, multi-unit housing earlier this year. 

Inspired by the humble hermit crab and LA’s traditional courtyard housing, our concept ‘Staying Put’ was an anti-displacement design that would propel residents beyond mere property ownership to a state of full community investment and engagement.
